Pre-planting Self-Assessment Checklist

For all new crop plantings from the date of AusGAP commencement the grower needs to record and provide this self-assessment declaration to AusGAP to ensure the following criteria are met and initialled.

Planting of new paddocks cannot commence until a planting certificate has been issued by AusGAP after the lodgement of the Pre-Planting Self-Assessment or an AusGAP on-site inspection has been completed.

  • Additional ITGAP pre-planting protocols for TifTuf

  • 1.1 TifTuf should not be planted in a previous couch paddock but, if necessary, the field must be fumigated – Please state fumigation times and methods.
  • 1.2 Any supportive evidence that sufficient fallow time has been in place for the paddock to be planted.
  • 1.3 Additional periodic inspections are required for the TifTuf grow-in and need to be prescheduled and approved prior to planting. See suggested periods below..
  • During the grow-in and when the paddock is established, periodic inspections are required to ensure there are no foreign grasses in the paddock. Expected inspections are as follows:
    • During the winter months when standard couch loses its colour, TifTuf will hold its colour much longer than any other available couch variety. Any grass that shows signs of 'going off' must be eradicated and that section marked for future inspection.
    • During seed head production - inspections are needed to check for consistency in seed head, again, if inconsistencies are found, the area needs to be sprayed and marked for future inspections.
  • AusGAP planting agreement

    In submitting this form the grower acknowledges that in carrying out the new planting and propagation of the turf crop as described, that all efforts have been undertaken to the best of their ability and in accordance with AusGAP procedures. This includes the sourcing of planting stock from an approved supplier and the use of recommended and authorised pre-emergents as part of the planting process. Please note:
    • An on-site inspection and turfgrass advice will be provided once your new planting has been completed. This inspection will be to ensure all requirements with regards to your AusGAP certification are undertaken and to assist with any agronomy questions, growth characteristic, etc.
    • This inspection will be carried out by providing notice of planned visit and between the period of grow-in and prior to harvesting.
